In college, two of my friends and I called ourselves the 51st Percentile, because we were all “slightly above average.” We had even talked of starting a YouTube channel devoted to being average. To help kick start our progress, I used the 51st as my “company” for a semester long project in my Design Media class I took Senior year. For it, I designed a logo, our icon set, and made a lot of progress with our visual brand. I also applied that brand to a few products, such as a baseball cap and different sized buttons. Sadly, the 51st never made it to YouTube, but we at least got some cool hats out of the project. I have also utilized the icon representing myself as my own personal logo, so the project didn’t completely go to waste.
